April 17, 2011: Queenie was one of the participants at a health screening clinic. While her eyes are just fine, her heart was diagnosed with a moderate to loud murmur: - Endocardiosis (acquired), Mitral Regurgitation. Yes, the OFA form was submitted for the online database.

The examining specialist indicated that she can continue to train and show in Rally and Obedience. She needs no meds; will soon have a baseline x-ray of her chest, which will be repeated every six months. If/when she has issues with coughing or her breathing, then further evaluation by the cardiologist will be done and treatment planned. He indicated she could have a few good years, or many - there is no way to tell.

Her happiness and comfort will be the determining factor on how long she trains and competes. Our goal for this year is to finish her Rally Titles, and earn a Beginning Novice Obedience title.

April 2010: Queenie will be entering the Rally ring this spring! She loves training. She can be very silly at times, so watch for this little clown!

May 2010: Queenie has earned her first Rally Novice score (84). 2 legs to go!

June 2010: 2nd leg with a score of 95! Her next rally competion will be in the fall, as she's now on maternity leave.

Oct 2010: 3rd Rally Novice leg with 2nd place! Now she's training for Advanced!

Queenie is a fun girl, she has a double-dose of fun coming from her mother Twinkle, and her father, Blues (owned by Kitty Sjong in Denmark). She doesn't seem to have a serious side at all.

Queenie is a littermate to Billie (Lady Sings the Blues), and they were named for their father, Blues.

I thank Kitty Sjong for allowing Blues to be their father!

While Billie has gone onto a show career with Mary Jo Loye & Kitty (her co-owners), Queenie's future involves staying here at Firerose to have a litter or two, and begin obedience training... that is, if I can get her to focus on working!

She's very fun-loving, and sweet, loves to snuggle while watching tv. And she makes up tricks (alternative) to obedience training.
